Subaru Crosstrek (Subcompact SUV): The Crosstrek is designed for both urban touring and wilderness adventure. It offers an excellent ride, good fuel economy, standard all-wheel drive, and a high ground clearance that makes it able to handle rougher roads. It's easy to climb into and out of. Both the front and rear seats are comfortable and supportive, and the combination of physical and touchscreen controls are mostly user-friendly, according to CR's testers. ALL THE MONEY NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Mon Sep 29 2025

Daniel de Visé Personal Finance Reporter

Good morning, and happy National Coffee Day! It's Daniel de Visé with your Daily Money.

For Generation X, retirement beckons. And reality still bites.

A raft of new surveys suggest the MTV Generation is regretful about past financial missteps, anxious about the current economy and fretful about the future.

New tariffs on brand-name drugs. . .

President Donald Trump announced a new round of tariffs beginning in October that would impose a 100% duty on brand-name drugs imported to the United States.

Like many Trump tariffs, this one is complicated, with various exceptions and caveats.

. . . And on the home-goods industry

Even as the costs associated with buying and maintaining homes remain out of reach for many Americans, new tariffs on housing goods manufacturers will likely make it harder to remodel and decorate, with dire consequences for much of the home goods industry, not to mention the broader economy.

The tariffs, announced last week by President Trump, include a 30% levy on upholstered furniture, and 50% on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities.

How much of those taxes will be passed on to consumers?
