The Daily Money: When investing feels like gaming

In today's Daily Money, we have insights on Rolls-Royce, stock trading, National Coffee Day and Amazon's new Astro robot. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Good morning, Daily Money friends, it's Nathan here with you again this Wednesday!

🚗 More than a century ago, the founder of Rolls-Royce, Charles Rolls, sang the praises of electric vehicles.

But Rolls-Royce, of course, eventually became a maker of luxury gas-powered vehicles, such as the $406,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith with its 6.6-liter, twin-supercharged, 12-cylinder engine.

No more. This morning I reported that Rolls-Royce is going electric.

💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Investing is not a game. It's real life. Which is why the alleged "gamification" of stock trading via apps like Robinhood has caught the attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Our Brett Molina reports on this trend, quoting an expert who says apps that use gamification tap into chemicals in the brain that allow us to experience pleasure.

📰 And here are more stories you won't want to miss:

1. It's National Coffee Day: You can get free coffee today at Starbucks, Dunkin', Panera, Krispy Kreme and elsewhere. But make sure to check Kelly Tyko's roundup for details.

2. Ready for an Amazon robot in your house? Meet the task-performing Astro.

3. "Deal Days" are back at Target: Just in time for the holiday shopping season.

4. The U.S. border is poised to reopen in "early November" to vaccinated international travelers: But some are starting to get frustrated at the lack of specificity on the date.

5. Still hanging onto that credit card with an annual fee for the rewards? These perks might not be worth paying for.

💳 Excuse me while I go digging in my wallet to figure out whether I've been getting ripped off.

The Daily Money: Ford building new plants

In today's Daily Money newsletter, we have insights about Ford Motor Co., HomeGoods, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and stimulus payments. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Good morning, Daily Money friends, and good day to you from yours truly, Nathan.

🍅 Let no drop of ketchup ever go to waste again.

Heinz has a new solution for all that ketchup that you can't squeeze out of the packet. The company has introduced a ketchup roller that attaches to your keychain.

How did we ever live without it?!

💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Ford is shifting its manufacturing footprint toward the South, where foreign automakers have located their American production capacity for decades. The company announced Monday that it's building several new plants to support its electric vehicle production . Where? Not Michigan, Ohio or Indiana. Instead, they'll be built in Kentucky and Tennessee. The move marks a further diminishment of the Midwest's domination of automotive output while bolstering the South's growing reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse.

📰 And here are more stories you won't want to miss:

1. If jobless claims rise, could that lead to another stimulus check? I wouldn't count on it.

2. HomeGoods is launching a new online store: It will feature a variety of products, including decor, bedding and kitchen goods.

3. It's not delivery, it's a recall: Watch out for this DiGiorno pizza recall.

4. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas casino-hotel on the Las Vegas strip has been sold: Blackstone offloaded it in a $5.65 billion deal.

🎰 Yes, you read that price right.

Altogether with me now: The house always wins.

A photo of the economic stimulus check from the U.S. Treasury, with the word "STIMULUS" boldly stamped across it. The check is surrounded by $100 bills.
Jobless claims are up. Could that mean a fourth stimulus payment?
It may be premature to completely write off the idea of a fourth stimulus check. But if the economy keeps slowing, it could be back on the table.
