| To ease you into this short work week, let's start with the fun stuff: free food. Subway is making big changes to its menu. The sandwich chain is adding 12 new subs to its menu and wants to get consumers to try them by offering those sandwiches for free. |
| Customers who visit a Subway on July 12 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. local time will get a free 6-inch sandwich from their new collection. |
Home sweet home, in the office? |
| If American workers learned anything during the pandemic, it's that there's no place like home. Remote work has been embraced so lovingly that many employees are resisting a return to the office. But for those workers who must reunite with their cubicle, they're eager to make it feel as close to home as possible . "I need to have some visual thing that says, this is from the house," said Jannet Ponder, an administrative assistant at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas, who brought plants to the office to help re-create the at-home environment. |

Here comes the bride – and the bar tab |
| One of the biggest debates when you plan to host a wedding: open bar, cash bar, or something in between? Wedding guests – who are already paying for a gift, an outfit, travel expenses, and potentially more if you are in the wedding party – would rather not spend more money on drinks. |
| What should couples do? Planning experts advise offering some form of free beverage, whether an open bar or even just free beer and wine. But if you do offer a cash bar, be sure guests know well in advance. |
| If you're a guest, don't be so quick to decline a wedding invitation because you're paying for drinks. "I think that that's a very short-sighted response because the reason you're going to the wedding is to support the people that are getting married," said James Abel of Manhattan's James Abel Events. |
