We've watched parents whose kids have already started school struggling with the ongoing bus driver shortage . We hoped with the few extra weeks we've had, things might be sorted out, but it doesn't look like it will be for our kids who start Monday or others who begin after Labor Day. |
All the joy of going back to school is overshadowed by the stress of getting the kids to school amid this continuing bus driver shortage. Many people attribute the problem to low pay for a thankless job (doesn't that sound familiar?) although here in Chicago, some say applicants' inability to pass a background and safety check is limiting the pool. If true, that's a tough one to tackle. |
