The Daily Money: 8 million cleaning products recalled

The Laundress brand has recalled nearly 8 million units over the possible presence of several illness-causing bacteria. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Katie Wedell here bringing you the Tuesday headlines.

Before we jump in, if you've started your holiday shopping you're probably watching for a number of packages to arrive on your doorstep. Make sure to read this advice for avoiding porch pirates.

Over the past 12 months, 260 million packages worth $19.5 billion were stolen by these front-door thieves, according to data from SafeWise. And theft tends to increase during the holiday season.

Cleaning product recall

We don't normally think of soap as something that gets recalled for bacteria since of course we don't ingest soap – unless you're a kidtricked into the Tide Pod challenge or Ralphie after saying the Queen Mother of swear words.

But The Laundress brand has recalled nearly 8 million units over the possible presence of several illness-causing bacteria that can be inhaled or enter the body through the eyes or a cut. At least 11 people have reported infections.

The Daily Money: Inflation means more Americans working side hustles

Inflation is causing an increasing number of Americans to take on side hustles. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Monday, December 5

Welcome to another week of the Daily Money. It's Katie Wedell here with your Monday headlines.

In case you missed it, Elon Musk promised big news Friday evening about Twitter's handling of the story about Hunter Biden's laptop back in 2020.

Musk promoted a series of tweets that showed Twitter employees and executives struggled with whether or not to censor tweets about a 2020 New York Post story on then-candidate Joe Biden's son.

Our story details what the documents released Friday show – and what they don't:

Higher inflation means more work.

Inflation is causing an increasing number of Americans to take on side hustles.

According to the November jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy added 263,000 jobs last month. Buried in the details, though, is a 165,000 jump in people holding multiple jobs.

If you're considering taking on delivery driving to make some extra cash this holiday season, you'll want to check out this story on how much money drivers for DoorDash and Uber Eats make.
