ALL THE MONEY NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Tue Oct 7 2025

Daniel de Visé |  Personal Finance Reporter

Good morning! It's Daniel de Visé with your Daily Money.

Sometimes, friendship and money don't mix.

More than 1 in 3 Americans have lost friends over money, according to a report from the personal finance site LendingTree. Two-fifths reported tension with friends over money. And nearly one-third felt pressure to keep up with friends' spending habits.

None of that tension, though, seems to stop Americans from mixing money and friendship.

What happened to the jobs report?

One consequence of the lingering government shutdown is that we got no jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The latest one was due Friday.

A jobs report is a vital piece of economic data, factoring into decisions about interest rates and the overall health of the economy. What happens when it is put on hold?
