Good morning!
If you’ve been wanting to give your liver some extra love, look no further than the humble tomato (or even a great jar of pasta sauce). More on that below, plus, I’ve got everything you need to make eating high-protein snacks and meals a stress-free part of your week. —Ailsa Cowell, M.S., health editor Don’t forget to share this newsletter with that friend who grew way too many tomatoes! |

The best food for your liver?Natural liver support is hiding in your favorite go-to summer produce. A new randomized controlled trial was done on people with metabolic liver disease who ate tomatoes (fresh tomatoes and also tomato sauce):¹
- They found a significantly greater reduction in liver fat in those eating tomatoes (it dropped by about half!), compared to those following a tomato-free diet.
- Why tomatoes? They’re rich in antioxidants like lycopene, which has anti-inflammatory properties, plus they're also typically consumed alongside olive oil, legumes, whole grains, fish, and other nutrient-dense foods that offer compounded benefits.
- Tomatoes also contain beta-carotene, polyphenols, and other plant compounds that may help protect cells from oxidative stress and support a healthier inflammatory response.
Pro-tip: Cooking tomatoes can make their lycopene easier for the body to absorb. Since lycopene is fat-soluble, eating tomatoes with some olive oil or another source of fat may help with absorption.

It’s not just your hormones… |
|
 |
Hot flashes, brain fog, that 3 p.m. crash... most women are told it's just hormones, just menopause.
But there's a piece of the puzzle that rarely gets tested: Nitric Oxide (NO), the molecule controlling blood flow to your brain, skin, and heart.
As estrogen declines through perimenopause, so does your body's natural NO production, and with it, the circulation behind nearly everything on that list.
Berkeley Life's Test Strips show you your own baseline in 10 seconds, the same method used in clinical research. And Nitric Oxide Support, validated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, helps restore it.
It's a 10-second habit that tells you more about what's changing than any symptom checklist can. |

If you do one thing… stop avoiding anxietyI get it, an anxiety-provoking situation is something many of us want to avoid. But when we hide from those situations, our brains hold on to the message.²
- Research on avoiding anxiety suggests that when anxiety drops after you avoid something, your brain can take that as a sign that avoiding it worked.
- The next time a similar situation comes up, you're more likely to avoid it again. You’re not actually overcoming the root of the anxiety.
- Instead, researchers suggest leaning in. Methods like cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, and addressing avoidance directly can all make a positive impact.
Read more on why avoiding your anxiety may only make things worse.
That’s it for the long game—we hope you’re geared up for the week ahead of you. |
