Good morning, Daily Money readers! How was your weekend? It's Josh Rivera today with the top Money headlines.

If you feel like you're financially struggling, you're not alone. According to Bankrate.com, fewer than four in 10 Americans could handle an unexpected $1,000 expense such as a medical bill or car repair.

In other news, if you (like me) never got your first stimulus check and don't get your second one by Jan. 15, you might have to claim them when filing your 2020 taxes.

"Taxpayers will need to file a 2020 federal income tax return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit if they didn't get the money or they received less money than they're eligible to get, such as if a child's stimulus wasn't included in the payout," says personal finance reporter Susan Tompor in her story.

And if you're thinking ahead and debating whether you should open a Roth IRA for your child, here are five rules to watch before you do.

Friday, January 8

It's Friday. What a year this week has been. Before we race toward the weekend, let's check out today's Money and Tech headlines.

Although this week may have felt as if we're still in 2020, it is in fact 2021. And the start of a new year is a great time to give your 401(k) a checkup.

Have a holiday gift or other package arrive late? You are not alone. But it wasn't just customers impacted by carrier delays. Small businesses have been feeling the effects, too.

Finally, still haven't received your stimulus check? Some customers of H&R Block and TurboTax discovered those payments were placed in the wrong accounts.

Scroll down for more headlines, and have a great weekend.
