This vitamin may slow biological agingHow quickly we’re aging internally (our biological age) doesn’t always match our years on Earth. One way scientists measure biological age is through DNA methylation patterns, and new research shows vitamin D may offer some helpful benefits:¹
- Researchers followed 1,036 adults for an average of 7.4 years and compared DNA methylation-based measures of aging among vitamin D-deficient individuals.
- Those who started taking vitamin D supplements after the initial assessment had lower biological age acceleration at follow-up compared with vitamin D-deficient participants who didn't supplement.
- The difference was about 2.6 years using one type of age marker, and 1.3 years on another.
Overall, their findings suggest that correcting a vitamin D deficiency may help move some markers of internal aging in a more favorable direction.

If you do one thing… eat more walnutsEating healthier doesn’t always have to mean subtracting. Adding more walnuts to your diet could do more than you might suspect:²
- People who ate 1 to 2 ounces of walnuts per day had lower inflammatory diet scores than those who didn’t.
- Walnuts contain several of the nutrients associated with lower inflammation, including fiber, magnesium, & omega-3 fats.
Throw them on a salad, in a smoothie, on your yogurt, or right in your mouth. It’s an easy yes.
