Trick or treat? If you're a Mac lover, most likely the latter.

Apple on Tuesday announced a product showcase taking place the night before Halloween. The online event taking place Oct. 30 is dubbed "Scary Fast" which could be a reference to the new M3 Mac chip which is supposed to boost the performance of its computers. Also widely expected to make an appearance are new Mac computers.

The presentation is likely to be the last of the year for Apple.

The event is slated to take place on the company's website and on video platforms like YouTube at 5 p.m. PST, an unusual nighttime booking for Apple.

Shocked Tim Cook

Apple CEO Tim Cook was shocked to see an original Macintosh Classic at a store opening as he greeted customers at the opening of the first store in India on April 18.

Is it time to buy I Bonds?

Spoiler alert: There's no rush, Susan Tompor reports.

The current rate on an I Bond bought from May through October is 4.3%. That includes a key fixed rate of 0.9% for I Bonds bought through October — and an annualized inflation-adjusted rate of 3.38% that is added on top of the fixed rate.

Based on the latest inflation data announced on Oct. 12, the inflation-linked rate for I Bonds is expected to be 3.94%, according to Ken Tumin, who founded  DepositAccounts in 2009, which is now part of LendingTree. The site tracks and compares bank rates.

Twitter launched its new logo on July 24, 2023, replacing the blue bird with a white X on a black background as the Elon Musk-owned company moves toward rebranding as X.
